Resource Allocation Model for Police (RAMP) launched
Process Evolution has launced a new piece of software to complement its Profiler, Analyser and XIMES suite of products which are already widely used in the police service.
RAMP - Resource Allocation Model for Police - is designed primarily to help police forces that are re-structuring, including moving to a single BCU model. It enables alternative Force Operating Models to be evaluated in order to test feasibility and determine resource requirements both geographically and functionally.
"We've observed forces designing operating models which at best have imbalances of resource and at worst are fundamentally flawed" said Peter Loader. "The second common problem we encounter is different strands of the overall change programme working off different assumptions. In one force, the strand planning Incident Response thought Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT) were dealing with diarised appointments. However, the NPT strand hadn't planned for them, and didn't have a means to determine the resources required."
RAMP allows a rapid evaluation of the options under consideration, enabling infeasible solutions to be rejected early before too much work has been spent on them. It also acts as a single repository for key workload assumptions as a change programme evolves.
